Purpose of Role
To ensure the stable performance of "state-of-the-art" equipment used in Compound Semiconductor processing and manufacture. To maximise machine availability by analysing breakdown data, implementing solutions and procedures through proactive engineering.
Introduction of new equipment and technologies to support process development and the business plan of Octric Semiconductors Ltd.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability and adaptable to work in all process and operation areas
- To ensure stable equipment performance by specifying PM schedules and procedures
- Implement recovery procedures for breakdown and corrective maintenance procedures
- Specify start-up and shutdown schedules and procedures for equipment
- Design and procurement for machine modifications and improvements
- Provide technical guidance and advice to equipment technicians and process engineers
- Control of spare parts and stock levels required for equipment PM's and breakdowns
- Second sourcing of parts to achieve cost of ownership reductions
- Analyse equipment performance data in order to identify areas of improvement
- Ensure equipment meets process specific targets and capability
- Write purchase specifications for new capital equipment including final acceptance testing
- Train Operations Technicians and Operators to the requirements of ISO9001-2015, adhering to ISO1400-2015 and ISO45001
- Perform COSHH, method statements and risk assessments, contribute to CDM
- Develop "Best Known Method" practices throughout the operation areas
- Liaise with contractors and vendors for all plant and technology improvements
- Reduction of operating costs through production scrap reduction and yield improvements
- React to change in a dynamic fast moving business at the leading edge of Technology
Main Tasks
- Daily review of machine performance, analyse equipment reports to discover the true root causes.
- Mentoring Equipment Technicians to ensure equipment is returned to production in a timely manner.
- Liaising with the the process engineerings to improve the equipment process performance.
- Contribution to the Equipment and Plant key performance indicators to seek improvements in performance.
Experience
- Recognised engineer/engineering responsibilities for a minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environment
- Preferably in a multi-discipline role biased towards electrical/electronic field of expertise
Technical Skills
- In the following areas: Robotics, high vacuum, gas control systems, chemicals, pneumatics, PLC's, software integration and control, calibration, electronics, control & instrumentation.
- An analytical and imaginative approach to problem solving.
- PC literate and familiar with a broad spectrum of commercially available software packages.
- Self-motivated and ambitious with a hands-on approach.
- Punctual and committed to the business needs.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to constant change.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Minimum of HNC with 5 years' experience.
