PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Develop, integrate and qualify e-beam lithography production capability for GaAs and GaN technologies.

Interface with counterparts within the engineering team to identify, participate within and lead project objectives that enable department objectives to be achieved, namely the on-time supply of parts or processes to customers of high quality and at minimal cost.

Main Tasks:

  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements in order to increase efficiency, yield and reduce operating costs. Assist in meeting engineering group’s key performance indicators. Identifies and participates within projects to meet required department objectives or improvement activities, may contribute to establishing resource requirements, monitoring of progress and ensuring project deliverables.
  • Engineering technical needs, processes and procedures required to advance product and process development will be established through close liaison with other senior members of staff within the organisation.
  • Active role shall be played in yield improvement activities, working closely with device and yield engineers. Will demonstrate, through applied problem solving, new product introductions and continuous improvement activities an understanding of how variations in process conditions may affect product performance.
  • Identify requirements for new hardware or modifications thereof in order to meet the requirement of the customer or developing process. Such requirements shall be thoroughly specified and budgeted, suppliers identified, and evaluations undertaken. Hardware shall be commissioned and tested for conformance to specification. Prior to release to production all necessary risk assessments and documentation shall be updated and applicable staff training undertaken.
  • Proactive role in developing a positive safety and environmental culture to satisfy ISO 140001 requirements.
  • Coaching or mentoring of junior members of staff is a requirement, these being either fellow engineers or technicians. Training material shall be provided and presented (where required) for engineering staff within the organisation to raise the general level of competency within the field.
  • Establish how process variations impact product quality and performance. Determine, set and monitor in-line process specification limits to guarantee product performance.

  • Experience processing compound semiconductor devices
  • Experience of tool matching: e-beam / e-beam, e-beam / optical
  • Should have process know-how of more than one area.
  • Experience of identifying hardware needs and generating purchase specifications
  • Evidence of project management or leadership.
  • Evidence of undertaking development or production within a quality environment
  • Knowledge of JMP, Minitab
  • Evidence of SPC implementation.
  • Evidence of DOE, FMEA application.

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Device Engineering Lead responsible for development and maintenance of compound semiconductor device technologies.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development of new GaN and GaAs RF device technology from concept to production.
  • Sustaining device engineering of existing technologies.
  • Device engineering team leadership.

Main Tasks:

  • Development of new compound semiconductor process technologies in GaN and GaAs in partnership with Process Engineering and Reliability teams.
  • Ownership of In-line PCM test specifications and control limits.
  • Monitoring of process performance using SPC techniques, reacting to abnormal parametric data and out of control events and driving improvements.
  • Provide device input to the resolution of manufacturing issues.

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Device characterization in support of technology development and compact modelling of microwave GaN and GaAs device technology.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform & direct RF characterization for the development and validation of device models and to support the device engineering activities

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

To promote a positive environmental awareness and compliance culture within the workplace and throughout the business by having an ever presence to advise, guide and mentor the workforce from managers to operators in matters of Environmental Management. This will include ensuring legislative and operational expectations are fully met. Ensure the Company Policies and Legislative Environmental requirements are implemented and fulfilled by practical application of an in depth working knowledge of the topic.

As an Environmental Compliance Officer and professional you will ensure the site its process plant, employees and contractors operate in line with current legislation, guidance and procedures.

The primary function of the role is to work closely with the environmental agencies and specialist consultants to ensure the plant and equipment are designed and operated in a manner that ensures our licences to operate are fully adhered to and complied with.  

Main Tasks:

  • Apply working knowledge and experience to build good working relationship with environmental agency and ensure compliance with IPPC Permit and other Operating licences
  • Solid application and practical application of skill set on ISO14001 Environmental Standards
  • Work closely with internal and external monitoring and analytical companies/ contractors and ensure corrective actions are taken based on test results. E.g. Legionella Control in Cooling Towers and Facility Water Supplies,
  • Monitor and Maintain Environmental Consents in accordance with IPPC Permit in terms of discharge to atmosphere, ground, drainage and rivers. This will include areas such as the “Plant Effluent Processes, Scrubber Systems, Trade Test Pit and Out of Specification Tank Control
  • Work effectively with offsite waste and chemical analysis companies to ensure corrective actions are taken with plant effluent control system based on outcomes of test result.
  • Ensure on and offsite laboratories and test facilities operate within ISO accreditation standards; ISO 14001, ISO9001.
  • Rationalize and reorganise the waste monitoring programmes carried out onsite with a view to developing a centralised approach with KPI and Dashboards
  • Manage site waste streams in a safe efficient and cost-effective manor e.g. 01/02WRT, Trade Test Pit, West Sewer Sump, Out of Spec Tank, Hazardous and Solvent Waste Collections Streams. AD Treatment Stages
  • Collect and control all required waste transfer documents and work closely with external bodies to ensure waste is safely and effectively managed and disposed of
  • Ensure site teams are supplied with systems and information required to protect themselves against chemical hazards as detailed in Chemical Hazards and Information Packaging (CHIP 2002)
  • Develop and apply working systems and processes associated with Chemical usage and storage as detailed in Control of Substances Hazardous to Heath Regulations (COSHH 2002)
  • Compile and implement robust health monitoring and screening systems to demonstrate adherence to site requirements for Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Restricted Chemicals (REACH)
  • Perform a lead role in the processes used to introduce and use new chemicals and raw materials used across the site and within the processing plants.
  • Develop and implement strategies and processes to in still “Positive and Robust HSE Culture including a Behavioural Safety Element
  • Liaise with Occupation Health Provider, set up and provide recommendations for onsite health screening
  • Develop and implement Safe Effective and Efficient “Site Emergency Response Protocols and Procedures”  
  • Coach and mentor the Incident Controller Functions and measure their effectiveness in dealing with the chemical and chemistry aspects of sit emergencies
  • Perform off site audits of waste contractors’ facilities and maintain waste stream mapping

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

An experienced Semiconductor Process Integration/Yield Manager required to lead and develop a team of highly motivated engineers at Octric’s world class cleanroom facility in County Durham.  Responsible for the development and integration new process technologies and to lead yield improvement initiatives across existing production qualified manufacturing processes.

Act as interface with all disciplines within the Operations Dept to ensure stable, robust, repeatable, sustainable and high yielding manufacturing processes are achieved, monitored and maintained with the needs of the customer being paramount.The primary function of the role is to work closely with the environmental agencies and specialist consultants to ensure the plant and equipment are designed and operated in a manner that ensures our licences to operate are fully adhered to and complied with.  

Main Tasks:

  • Working with process, device and quality teams to design, develop and qualify new production technologies in-line with Octric’s technology roadmap.  
  • Lead and develop team of engineers responsible for driving process integration and yield improvement initiatives for new and existing technologies.
  • Drive process integration activities to ensure that gate stage reviews are completed in-line with the Octric technology roadmap.
  • Provide timely feedback on Engineering trials and production data to Design, Development and Production.
  • Track and report line and die yield performance across all production technologies.
  • Develop and maintain yield pareto to pro-actively target improvement opportunities. Lead cross-functional teams to drive yield improvement activities and minimize scrap.
  • Work with Quality, Production and Engineering teams to identify and contain process excursions  
  • Develop, monitor and maintain dept Key Performance Indicators in line with internal and external customer needs.
  • Actively promotes safe working environment and culture by ensuring that EH&S standards and procedures are adhered to, and continuously improved.
  • Provide effective people management through the provision of coaching/mentoring and appropriate development planning to ensure the retention of key personnel.
  • Prepare operating budgets to maintain engineering capability to support manufacturing. PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Manage the Production Test function for Octric Semiconductors.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the team of test engineers and technicians.

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

RF and DC semiconductor wafer-level test engineering involving both in-line and production test operations.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development and maintenance of RF and DC test systems to acceptable levels for production use, ensuring effective and capable operation.
  • Perform new product introduction activities liaising with product engineers and production staff to establish test capability for new products.
  • Support Operations to ensure effective day-to-day operation of production testers and to address Test-related issues.
  • Support process engineering and technology development groups with device-level tests.
  • Development and optimisation of test hardware, software and systems.
  • To help ensure that the test department operates efficiently and safely.

Main Tasks:

  • Perform hardware and software development of new RF production test solutions including such as S-Parameter, Power, Noise Figure testing.
  • Introduction of new product tests into production including Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility, establishment of Golden Wafer test verification capability and associated Statistical Process Control, managing specification limits and provision of user documentation and training.
  • Management of in-line DC process testing systems including specifying & procuring new probe cards and developing test algorithms for new products.
  • Engineering analysis of the test data. Preparing test reports including wafer maps, SPC reports, correlation of test data, product performance against specification etc.
  • Supporting Test Technicians and Operators with production issues.
  • Performing training of production staff when required.
  • Fault-finding of production wafer test systems.
  • Producing device evaluation and diagnostic reports for internal and customer reviews.
  • Maintaining focus on improvement activities.
  • Support to other departments such as Technology Development and Reliability as required

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience

  • DC and RF test experience.
  • Test software development.

Key Skills

  • Competent with test systems and test instrumentation such as Vector Network Analysers, Pulsed Power meters, Noise figure analysers, Spectrum Analysers.

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

To provide Reliability Engineering support for process and product developments, qualifications, investigations and improvement activities.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, define and develop Reliability methods and systems.
  • Execute qualification plans to assure process and product are fit for purpose.
  • Assess and investigate product and process improvements.  
  • Liaise with a number of groups including members of the reliability and failure analysis group, design/technology engineering, process engineering, product engineering and customers.
  • Responsible for contributing to the development and execution of the Product Development and Quality goals and plans.  


Main Tasks:

  • Utilise Problem Analysis techniques to identify, rank and mitigate risks in design, manufacturing, and qualification  
  • Develop Product Qualification Strategies for each product considering: - applicability of existing reliability data and confidence levels
  • Work with the reliability and failure analysis labs to understand product and technology weaknesses and how they can be improved
  • Drive improvements in product quality to align with customer and business targets
  • Periodic reliability assessments
  • Documenting and reporting the results of any reliability testing for both internal and external customers.
  • Estimate failure rates and expected lifetimes.
  • Establish lifetime and acceleration methodologies to support the qualification of processes and products.
  • Provide technical support to the department in cases of test methodology, data analysis and failure mechanisms.
  • Design of life test boards to ensure appropriate testing of the device.
  • Monitor working practices and equipment performance identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ensure that relevant documentation exists and is regularly reviewed including equipment operation, machine checks, data analysis methods, work instructions for tests etc.
  • Respond positively to customer claims, assisting in determining failure modes, corrective and preventative action to eliminate the problem.
  • Seek to improve on past customer performance by encouraging feedback and responding to and acting upon customer information. Plan, coordinate, supervise and monitor contractors/vendors work on site, where applicable, and report back on the progress of work.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience

  • 2-3 years technical experience in a production environment.
  • Good understanding of Reliability analysis and methodologies ( e.g. Weibull, Log-normal, Arrhenius etc.)

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Develop, integrate and qualify e-beam lithography production capability for GaAs and GaN technologies.

Interface with counterparts within the engineering team to identify, participate within and lead project objectives that enable department objectives to be achieved, namely the on-time supply of parts or processes to customers of high quality and at minimal cost.

Main Tasks:

  • Active role shall be played in yield improvement activities, working closely with device, yield and development engineers. Will demonstrate, through problem solving, new product introductions and continuous improvement activities an understanding of how variations in process conditions may affect product performance.
  • Support manufacturing line for resolving of process related issues in a timely manner ensuring any downtime encountered is minimal.
  • Monitoring of manufacturing data through statistical process control techniques to ensure excursions from the normal are reacted to quickly and countermeasures implemented to prohibit further excursions.
  • Must proactively identify and implement process improvements in order to increase efficiency, yield and reduce operating costs. Assist in meeting engineering group’s key performance indicators. Participates in projects to meet required department objectives or improvement activities, may contribute to establishing resource requirements, monitoring of progress and ensuring project deliverables.
  • Proactive role in developing a positive safety and environmental culture to satisfy international standards.
  • Working in the photolithography area with responsibility for overseeing the introduction and qualification of new equipment and processes.  
  • Provide active lead for technology/product development projects to deliver innovative process solutions and world class product performance within the area of photolithography.
  • Working with production staff, engineers and technicians to provide support to wafer Fab manufacturing.
  • Objective of minimising scrap, increase yield, reduce cycle time, improve overall equipment effectiveness, minimise manufacturing costs and ensuring quality manufacturing within the given field of operation.
  • Participate actively in the process and product development procedure such that the transfer of process and products from development phase through to production is completed successfully and on schedule.

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Participate enthusiastically in the provision of the highest standard of HSE Performance in the department. Focus self and assist others on the delivery of the department mission statement “Safe effective, efficient and seamless supply of facilities services with target zero disruption to the site production schedule”

Perform and integral part in the successful operation of the department by delivering technician services with specialism of Electrical and Distribution. Provide technician support required to undertake planned, breakdown and minor modification maintenance activities. Proactively deliver the role and “Operate in a spirit of continuous improvement” rapidly driving the role towards technicians being “Multidisciplined”.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure Health & Safety standards/procedures are adhered including “Risk Assessment and JSA”
  • Self-motivated planning and delivery of breakdown and planned and breakdown maintenance activities
  • Observe site priorities and deliver activities in line with site guidance
  • Operate in accordance “Maximo / CMMS” including accurate and timely recording of information
  • Safely diagnose and rectify plant breakdowns, undertake root causes reviews and implement remedial actions. Target being minimising plant downtime and probability of fault reoccurrence.
  • Undertake planned maintenance in a timely manner reviewing findings and adjusting frequencies
  • Share technical knowledge on “Specialism” with others and assist with “Multidisciplined Training”
  • Actively engage with process operators developing ability to operate process plant
  • Uphold site and UK Standards and ensure site complies with ISO9001/ISO14001/ISO45001.

MAIN TASKS:

  • Proactive participation in all HSE activities including Risk Assessment and Method Statements
  • Proactive role in developing a positively safe and environmental and quality culture to satisfy ISO 45001/140001/9001 respectively.
  • Utilise CMMS to identify, analyse and record PM’s and breakdowns in accordance with electrical maintenance schedules.
  • Self- lead and motivated delivery of comprehensive Planned Maintenance Schedules including timely input of information and review of findings. Finding review to be used to make recommendation on frequencies and suitability of maintenance activity.
  • Work closely with process technicians and monitor plant to ensure breakdowns are remediated in a safe and effective and efficient manner thus minimizing disruption of supply of service.
  • Analyse, maintain and rectify fault conditions across a range of plant, equipment & systems. This will include Root Cause Analysis for failure and subsequent development and implementation of improvement plan
  • Inspect, check, test motor control centres and electrical distribution systems. Including DOL, Star Delta and Variable Speed Drives.
  • Operate and diagnose fault conditions on electrical power distribution equipment.
  • Ensure high standards of engineering principles and procedures, compliance with good understanding of DSEAR / Hazardous Area Equipment Inspections. Ensuring compliance with relevant ISO Standards and Guidelines
  • Play an active role to identify and implement facilities plant improvements in order to increase reliability, efficiency and reduce operating costs through continuous improvements.
  • To understand how variations in the facilities plant and services can impact the fabrication plant performance.
  • Play an active role in problem solving activities during major events using an appropriate problem-solving tools and techniques. E.g 5 Why, Fish bone, 8 D and other Root Cause Tools.
  • Liaise with vendors and field service engineers for assistance in service contracts, breakdowns & telephone support

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience

  • Time served apprenticeship from an Electrical Maintenance Background / discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years post apprentice knowledge and experience of Process / Chemical Plant

Key Skills

  • Familiarity of COSHH and ability to write method statements and risk assessments
  • Solid and wide-ranging understanding of Electrical drives, MCC, and electrical distribution systems as utilised on Chemical and Process Plant
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skill with a strong appreciation of both practical and theoretical methodologies.

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

To plan and develop and where required, operate and commission new and existing High Voltage and Low Voltage electrical equipment and to ‘hand-over’ the systems to the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Group with the appropriate information and training as required for the system to be operated correctly, this includes required maintenance of the onsite equipment to current regulations.

To fault find, diagnose and take on or agree the appropriate actions to rectify any faults in a

satisfactory time scale. To ensure that the plant is running at the optimum level of availability and the overall performance of equipment is achieved to meet business objectives and the needs of the department.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure electrical and instrumentation safety is maintained on site at all times and to devise, manage and control appropriate isolation procedures factory wide to satisfy current legislation.
  • Carry out High Voltage isolations and control the system.
  • Improvement of maintenance aimed at avoidance or eliminating maintenance through removing problems at source.
  • Work safely and accurately with due regard for the safety of others, the process, the environment and plant equipment involved.
  • Involvement in planning and carrying out preventative maintenance which is characterised by being planned and scheduled against pre-determined inspections and checks and routine overhauls at regular or fixed intervals of time, including procurement of spares and materials.
  • Involvement in unscheduled maintenance, giving immediate remedial response to items of equipment of site.
  • Ensure all relevant persons receive appropriate training and development along with maintenance of training records.
  • Prepare annual electrical budgets, including running costs of plant items.
  • Research suitable solutions and estimate costs and timescales.
  • Ensure safe working practices at all times and compliance with all the statutory requirements under the Health and Safety at Work Act, Electricity at Work Act and Dangerous Substance and
  • Explosive Atmospheres Regulations.

MAIN TASKS:

  • Plan, develop and where required, oversee the commissioning and the maintenance of all new and existing electrical installations on site, ranging from 11,000v down to 100v systems.
  • Plan the development/modification of existing electrical systems to provide a more efficient and effective operation where necessary and to achieve continuous operational improvement on the plant.
  • Perform fault finding, diagnostic and optimisation activities across site electrical and instrumentation system and equipment
  • Ensure costs are minimised without compromising the quality of the service provided and to check operational control
  • Ensure that all newly commissioned and updated systems are transferred to the O&M Group in a timely and effective way, providing back-up information and where necessary, training.
  • Assist the O&M Group to solve electrical problems in a timely and effective way, ensuring minimum disruption to the plant. Produce maintenance schedules and manuals as necessary and approve these and other key technical documents for use within the department.
  • Prepare documentation, write reports and give presentations as necessary.
  • Provide technical data and documentation require for the preparation of proposals.
  • Produce and update simple schematic drawings and schedules and plat drawings related to electrical items of plant, HV and LV on site. Ensure electrical safety and the HV and LV distribution systems are maintained on site at all times and to devise, manage and control appropriate isolation procedures factory wide to satisfy current legislation and be able to carry out HV isolation and control the system.
  • Plan, coordinate, supervise and monitor contractors/vendors work on site, where applicable, and report back on the progress of work. Supply technical support and knowledge for maintenance, upkeep and refurbishment of site DCS and PLC Systems. This will include MCERTS equipment associated with site IPPC Permit Assist in the commissioning of plant with process and commissioning engineers.
  • Assist in the production of electrical system designs for process and utilities systems.
  • Ensure stable supply of services of the right quantity and quality.
  • Deal with plant problems and emergency breakdowns on all site electrical and instrumentation systems as they occur and work with other departments in a clear and concise manner.
  • Maintain a consistence and fair approach to all designated shift personnel. Ensure value for money when carrying out maintenance, both in house and external. An understanding awareness to respond to problems in production area and facilities Ensure site life safety and building protection and maintained and upgraded (Gas detection, fire Alarms, Sprinkler and Emergency Lighting Systems).
  • Technical authority for DSEAR Regulations ensuring plant equipment and personnel is compliant with code and regulations Ensure safe working practices at times and compliance with all the statutory requirements under the Health and Safety at Work Act, Electricity at Work Act and Dangerous Substance and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations. Be able to co-ordinate activities with external organisations and sub-contractors.
  • The successful candidate must have a thorough understanding of all regulations relating to Health and Safety and with particular emphasis on current electrical regulations and HV systems. You should have good written and oral skills and should be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively as part of an engineering and facilities team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience

  • Experience of working on LV/HV distribution systems within an industrial/facilities environment
  • 10 years’ experience of electrical HV switching

Key Skills

  • Training of personnel in safety & authorisations
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Good knowledge of motors control systems and circuits (DOL, S/D, VSD)
  • Good knowledge of BS7671 (IEE Regs) including cable sizing & protection systems
  • Capable of working on own initiative whilst working in a safe and competent manner at all times
  • Ability to use technical knowledge and experience to make sensible decisions and to provide information and assistance to others when necessary
  • Ability to organise and motivate a team and to delegate work to others
  • Ability to work within a multi-trades team
  • Good verbal, written and diagrammatic communication skills
  • Ability to work under extreme pressure if, for example, an entire production line is shut down, and a willingness to work unsociable hours when required

Education/Qualifications

  • Degree or HNC in Electrical Engineering
  • IEE 16th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Must be a British Citizen and willing to be Security Check (SC) cleared
